What is the WTP?

The Washington Title Professional (WTP) designation is awarded by the Washington Land Title Association (WLTA) to those individuals working in the industry who have demonstrated a commitment to ongoing education by completing coursework, attending seminars and passing an exam to demonstrate a thorough understanding of title insurance and closing information.

The WTP designation was developed by WLTA with the following objectives in mind:

  • Recognize those individuals who continue to educate themselves and others on current title and escrow matters.
  • Promote and maintain higher standards in the title insurance profession.
  • Promote greater pride in the title insurance profession.
  • Establish education standards for the title insurance profession.

FYI: All requirements to qualify for the WTP designation can be found on the downloaded application (see below). Included is at least one ALTA course (on ethics), with two additional optional ALTA courses that can apply toward education credit.

NOTE: Designation under the Washington Title Professional Program solely demonstrates that a land title professional has met the particular standards and criteria of the Washington Title Professional Program. Neither the Washington Land Title Association nor the designation itself, guarantees or warrants anything beyond a designee’s ability to meet such standards or criteria. The Washington Land Title Association makes no representations, warranties, or guarantees as to, and has and assumes no responsibility for, the proper performance of land title services, including but not limited to the transfer of real property, or related services provided by designees.
